Discover how to navigate this crazy journey called Motherhood while keeping your sanity intact!
Hey there, sweet friends! I’m Christina and I’m so thrilled you’ve stumbled over to my blog. I started my blog in 2016 as I needed a creative outlet and decided to give blogging a try. I am passionate about creating a beautiful, thriving home while enjoying the day to day moments with my family. I feel that as women we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect moms and it can be overwhelming. My goal is to share my experiences as I navigate through this amazing yet crazy journey called Motherhood! On the blog this will manifest into posts on parenting, fun activities to do with your kids, faith and delicious recipes to feed your family.
The inner perfectionist in me loves writing lists, so I thought it would be fitting for me to introduce myself in a list format and share 5 things you probably don’t know about me.
1.I Live a Nomadic Lifestyle
My family and I move around the country constantly. My husband, Tyson’s job requires us to move every 2 to 5 years. I met my husband almost 10 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta after a mutual friend fixed us up on a blind date. We met at a coffee shop and talked for over 3 hours until the coffee shop closed!
A little over a year later we were married. Two days after the wedding we moved to a small town called Raddison, Saskatchewan with a population of about 300 people. It was a crazy time of both of us figuring out marriage, raising a family, starting new careers and adjusting to life in a new province. 5 years later we moved to an isolated northern community called Ile a la Crosse. For two years, we had to drive 2.5 hours each way to a full size grocery store and over 6 hours to the nearest Walmart and Costco. A year ago we transferred to the nation’s capital, Ottawa.
2. I Never Envisioned Being a Boy Mom
I am a total girly girl. Growing up I loved wearing dresses, wearing make up and doing arts and crafts. I always dreamed of having a girl and being able to braid her hair, bake together and one day shop for her wedding dress. However, God had a different plan. He blessed my husband and I with two boys, Isaiah (14) and Troy (4). I get to share my love of sports, go for bike rides and learn all about the world of Transformers and Pokemon. Thankfully growing up with 4 brothers and a tomboy sister has helped prepare me. I always knew I wanted to be a mom and I love my boys to pieces. They are sweet, silly and love to keep me on my toes.
3. I am a Huge Dog (and Animal) Lover
Growing up my parents breed Samoyeds and showed them at dog shows. I spent my elementary school weekends traveling to dog shows, helping to groom the dogs and competing in the junior events. My golden retriever, Jenny was my best friend growing up. We were inseparable. After my husband and I were married, I spent a year working at the Saskatchewan SPCA. It was heartbreaking to see how animals were being treated. However, it was very rewarding to help rescue and find new homes for these well deserving animals. We had barely moved to our posting in Ile a la Crosse (only a few days!) when we adopted our current dog, Bailey.
4. I Am Quirky
I am almost always cold. I keep a pile of blankets by the couch and am constantly asking my husband to turn the heat up! I squeeze the toothpaste from the top and I don’t like to eat the end piece off a loaf of bread. I have an obsession with Coke a Cola. I can resist chips, ice cream or chocolate but pop is my weakness. I am a horrible singer but love to torture my kids by singing along to the radio. I get fixated on a task and have a hard time doing anything else until it’s completed. I love talking one on one to people but sometimes I get shy in large crowds. The people who know me best would say that I am caring and determined (aka stubborn). I love doing things on my own terms yet in general I am a rule follower and afraid to disappoint people.
5. I Am Obsessed With Home Reno Shows & Dream of Building Our Dream House One Day
I love to watch the Fixer Upper, Love it or List it Vancouver, House Hunters, Rehab Addict and more! These shows inspire me to want to take on a fixer upper one day or build our dream house from the ground up. I love to plan my dream kitchen and would love to live near the ocean.
