My little guy loves fishing right now. We went to the children’s museum yesterday and he spent more time playing the magnetic fishing pond game than anything else! We’ve been to the museum 5 times since we moved to Ottawa a year ago and he never gets bored. He also is obsessed with the book The Bravest Fish right now.
His love of fish inspired today’s craft, The Fish Aquarium!
Supplies Needed to Make the Craft:
2 paper plates
green pipe cleaners
How to Make the Craft:
Paint one paper plate blue.
Cut out the middle part of the second paper plate so that you only have the border (will look like a picture frame). Paint the second paper plate frame blue.
Let the paint dry.
Once dry, cut fish out of different colored construction paper. Glue on to the paper plate.
Have the kids color their fish and add googly eyes.
Add glue to the bottom of the paper plate and sprinkle sand on top. Shake off the excess sand.
Cut the green pipe cleaners to small pieces. Have your child glue the pipe cleaners onto the paper plate to resemble ocean plants.
But we aren’t finished yet! Now you cut a piece of saran wrap large enough to fit the painted paper plate frame. Pull it tightly around the frame and tape it along the inside to secure it.
Put the plate on top of the other and tape it together.
